South King Fire & Rescue and the Des Moines Police Department have partnered to assist neighborhoods with organizing residents to be ready to take care of themselves and each other after a disaster. Starting a Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET) in your neighborhood will ensure that you, your family, and your neighbors are prepared and have a plan for when a disaster occurs.
Volunteer NET Instructors Wanted!
Is emergency preparedness a passion of yours? Do you want to make a difference in your community? Yes? Then become a volunteer trainer for Des Moines Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET). You can be part of a dynamic team, helping neighborhoods prepare for and respond to any type of disaster.
The Des Moines Police Department and South King Fire & Rescue are looking for volunteers to instruct emergency preparedness classes. If you like talking to people and helping others, this may be the job for you.
Each neighborhood program involves one or two hours over the course of several weeks presenting information about emergency preparedness. Bi-lingual skills are a plus, as we have a diverse community.
All Volunteer Instructors must be able to pass a background check
